    Thanks! Wasn't aware they had an epay store or reproducing the 511E.

    Extra thick walls or bracing?

    I'll have both, please! :waver:

    Yes they are modified B's with no damping on them,I suppose you can apply it after or they will do it for you I think.

    As compared to the 9848 system plot with a 511E/288-8E;

    5

    The GPA plot finally sheds some light on the 511E low end, -5dB @ 400Hz (based on a "usable" BW of +/-5dB from 400-15kHz). Might sound better at 600 though, depending on the network.

    Which leads us back to the original Q of "crossover design"...

    Comparing plots of 288Gs on PWTs and other horns, the hump/dip/hump from ~1k-1.4k on the undamped 511E plot appears to be an effect of the 511s fundamental "bell" mode. (the sustained tone you get when striking one in front of a mic...). Probably safe to assume that can be easily fixed.

    You're welcome, but GM deserves the credit. I was playing ring-around-the-rosie in order to drag you through the briar patch so you'd understand, as understanding is way better than taking what you're told for granted.

    As it turned out though, I got more scratched up in those briars than you did, because now I'm left trying to understand that &^%$$#$ DI plot.

    "It's all about the music"

    C'mon now, really. If you meant that, you'd be listening to (or performing) live music instead of listening to speakers.

    You can be honest here. It's really about listening to recorded music on a system you built yourself.

    That's the plan.But that doesn't mean a whole lot if it sounds like crap no matter who built it right !! The most important thing is that it sounds right to me. BTW I have No Problem listening to speakers, especially "Good Ones"
